He has tried cases large and small, and is dedicated to members of the community in need of help. He is well known for his work representing the defendants in the infamous “Appalachian Trail Murder” death penalty case and the “Torso Murder” retrial, which he won.
He has also served as the solicitor for several townships, a school district, and municipal agencies. Mr. Philpott’s years of experience and no-nonsense approach benefit clients enormously, enabling him to provide efficient and effective representation. In light of Mr. Philpott's many years of experience with elder law issues, the firm is now adding elder law as a new practice area.
A native of California, Mr. Philpott went to Santa Clara Law School, where he edited the Santa Clara Law Review and competed in the national moot court competition. After graduating near the top of his class from law school, Mr. Philpott moved with his wife and family to the Washington, D.C. area where he worked as a trial attorney for the Federal Trade Commission. He spent 15 years litigating large, complex antitrust suits for the government.
Jerry has been married to local artist Sandra Philpott for over 40 years and is the father of 7 children. He's a grandfather to 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He enjoys visiting with his grandkids when they get off the bus at the office. He is a "gentleman farmer" and enjoys nothing more than working on his farm with his Kubota tractor.
